One lender deepening the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) financial inclusion campaign is undoubtedly Ecobank Nigeria Limited.
Within three months, the financial institution has expanded its bank branches across the country by 5,000, reaching 35,000 places, according to its managing director, Mr. Patrick Akinwuntan.
The bank was able to achieve this feat by implementing various initiatives, in particular by rewarding its customers and Xpress Point agents.
“We celebrate our customers for banking with us. They are the reason we are in business. We give them the opportunity to grow their business by providing them with convenient banking services.
“We offer banking services in each neighborhood through Xpress points, our branch banking platforms where we currently have nearly 35,000 locations across the country. The idea is to support agriculture, real sectoral activities at the base.
“We also support family values to promote cohesion and preserve culture. We help our clients realize their potential, for example, we reach out to women through Ellevate, which offers favorable conditions for women businesses, and generally, as a pan-African bank, we connect African businesses to the world, ”said the banker. .
Recently, Ecobank has rewarded its clients through the Super Reward Scheme, which aims to deepen Nigerians savings, reward and help clients’ businesses.
Four winners took home the all-star prizes and were N1 million.
The winners were Tsoho Alaye, with a special Ecobank Microfinance account representing FCT / Northern Region; Badero Modupe Olufunmilayo, with a personal Flexi account, representing the Lagos region; Omiwole Damilare Daniel, with a special Ecobank Microfinance account, representing the Midwest and Southwest region; and Hayford Gogo Lawson, with a personal savings account, representing South East and South South.
Mr Akinwuntan, while congratulating the winners as well as the clients who participated in the rewards program, revealed that the bank is launching several other initiatives such as Lion’s Den, an SME-focused TV series aired on DSTV that will provide young entrepreneurs the opportunity to present their commercial potentials which will create new Bill Gates, Dangotes outside Nigeria.
Earlier in her welcoming remarks, Ms. Korede Demola-Adeniyi, Head of Consumer Banking Services, congratulated the winners. and won cash prizes.
She said: “50 clients with the highest deposit were rewarded with N 25,000 each week while four clients with the highest deposit and transaction value during the campaign period are returning today to them with 1 million naira each “.
To qualify, according to Ms. Korede Demola-Adeniyi, new clients had to open an account with a minimum of N 5,000 and keep the deposit for a period of 30 days; the same goes for existing customers, who only had to fund their active account with a minimum of 5,000 N or reactivate their dormant account with a minimum of 5,000 N and maintain the deposit for a period of 30 days .
She added that at the end of the four-month campaign, 800 clients had earned N 25,000 per week in batches of 50 per week as four millionaires emerged in each of the four demarcated regions.
Urged those who have not yet opened an account with the bank to do so to take advantage of its state-of-the-art digital payment and collection platforms, including its products and services.
One of the winners, Badero Modupe Olufunmilayo, said she was attracted to Ecobank because of its network advantage and excellent service delivery. She promised to be the bank’s ambassador.
