Construction giant JCB has launched a new recruitment drive for 500 new agency workers as demand for its machines continues to soar.
The company is hiring additional staff at its 11 factories in Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Wrexham; and also offers 300 temporary workers permanent JCB contracts.
The new jobs are in addition to the 850 workshop jobs created so far in 2021, and will bring the total number of agency workshop employees with permanent jobs this year to 1,000.
The moves follow record demand for JCB’s construction and agricultural products, with most of the new machinery already sold out until next year.
Pay for workshop positions has also increased once this year to £ 11.35 per hour.
JCB CEO Graeme Macdonald said, “The recovery continues to accelerate and we have tens of thousands of new machine orders on our books that stretch into next year.
“We’ve never seen anything like it in JCB’s 75 year history. Along with earning a competitive salary with the possibility of improved overtime and shift pay, there is great potential. for new hires to progress to permanent positions at JCB. ”
